South Australia victorious in the 2015 AFL Youth Girls Championships Grand Final

The South Australian girls have conquered the Pool B Grand Final at the 2015 AFL Youth Girls National Championships after defeating NSW/ACT by 38 points on Friday night.

South Australia claimed victory against NSW/ACT 58-20 at Bendigo Bank Stadium in Western Australia, earning the undefeated title.

South Australia performed exceptionally and consistently all week having defeated the Thunder Devils by 70 points on Monday, NSW/ACT by a massive 77 points on Tuesday, and the Woomeras by 26 points on Thursday.

The NSW/ACT girls were also in fantastic form all week, qualifying for the Grand Final after defeating the Woomeras by 14 points on Monday and the Thunder Devils by 20 points on Thursday.

The South Australian girls came out firing on Friday night, opening the match with 4 strong goals within the first 13 minutes.

The NSW/ACT girls were unable to break through SA’s defense line in the first and second quarters, which resulted in the half time score being 32-6 with SA shining in the lead.

NSW/ACT lifted their game in the third and fourth quarters, scoring another 2 goals, 2 points, but it wasn’t enough to stop the determined South Australians.

South Australia secured another 4 goals, 2 points in the second half of the game and led by as much as 46 points before going on to win by 38.

Tait Mackrill secured three goals for South Australia with Sarah Milham adding two while Ether Boles, Kyesha Christensen, Brianna Walling and Ashleigh Woodland all kicking one apiece.

Sarah Allan, Layla Fitzgibbon, Mackrill, Milham, Demi Sonneman and Woodland were all among the best players for South Australia in the grand final victory.

Sasa Barnes kicked two of NSW/ACT’s three goals for the game with Blaise Miller-Hill adding the other.

Philippa Clegg, Jodie Hicks, Barnes, Angela Prftis, Amber Allen and Teigan Hawke were all among the best players for NSW/ACT.
